Electrical Engineer

Position Summary

HZO is looking for an experienced self-starter to join our team as an Electrical Engineer. This position will support the Electrical, Mechanical and Software teams in design, troubleshooting, and field installation of thin film vacuum deposition equipment. Includes developing wiring schematics for control systems, control panel, specifying & sourcing components, troubleshooting equipment issues as needed. The ideal candidate will have prior hands-on experience in schematic design, assembly, incorporating process engineering inputs, specification and scope definition, document creation and quality parameters.


  • Create schematics, bill of material, assemble components, trouble shoot electrical and electro-mechanical parts.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience in building control panels is a big plus.
  • Work closely with R&D, process development, application, and manufacturing teams.
  • Working with process and application engineers.
  • Help to design, test, and develop tooling and fixtures needed to support production processes
  • Frequently involved in wiring and installation
  • Function as a design engineer, with the ability to troubleshoot existing systems.
  • Build a complete control system, commission equipment, and write and maintain technical documentation for that system 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years applicable experience
    • Experience related to PLC/Control Panel design and assembly
    • Hands-on experience troubleshooting issues related to control panels
  • Familiarity with reading/understanding electrical schematics drawn up in AutoCAD or other industry standard schematic design software
  • Experience with manufacturing and automation production equipment
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience in vacuum equipment and design, including vacuum pumps, vacuum gauges and valves, and troubleshooting is a big plus
